Here's the latest thing; the NYT is taking reader submissions for best movies of the 21st century, which they're erroneously defining as beginning in 2000. It's always tough narrowing things down, because you have to leave off some very deserving choices, but here's what I ultimately went with.

If anyone wants to see an absurd historic preservation argument, here’s somebody lamenting the demolition of the remaining half of the faux English town built in 1972 across the Queen Mary parking lot in Long Beach and mostly vacant for years.
