That wouldn’t be a bad idea, in my opinion. But either way, I strongly recommend reading Aftermath before Alphabet (which I also really liked - mostly).

I found the first Aftermath book to be a bit of a slog until close to the end. I liked the ending enough to give the other two books a chance, and am glad that I did; they were pretty good. The Interludes between chapters were sometimes really great!

Not maths, but ELA, here. I try to plan one week out, but only with a rough outline. I do my specifics two or three days in advance. There are too many times I’ll need to reteach or do a mini lesson on something spur-of-the-moment to go further out than that. Plans get ruined when I do.

It can certainly be a lot of that time, but I think there is far more of it in the younger grades. I have MAD respect for the amount of time Elementary teachers put in (HS teacher, here).
