Here in Palm Springs there is an abundance of wonderful desert gardens which gives the town a unique character. Sadly there are also too many lawns and golf courses but Mesquite golf course in the center of town was recently turned into a nature preserve and re-wilded.

The seat of the problem is outdated garden design that requires perfect green lawns. Fallen leaves are super important habitat for insects over winter and should be left on the ground. Polinator Friendly Yards is a good group to follow on FB or talk to @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social

Two stroke engines require more additives in the gas, many of which are extremely toxic, and are designed to lubricate the combustion chamber which is why they burn dirty. They are easily replaced with electric and I believe some counties are doing so.
