Spent week in LA looking at political backdrop to US playing in tournament with 3 nations (Canada, Mexico & Panama) that have been in crosshairs of US President Trump.

Amara's daughter Matenin (10) was severely injured when she fell and was stepped on by others. He hasn't to this day been able to locate his niece Mafatta (16) on right.

Spoke to many people whilst there who'd lost family members. Including Joel (left) whose two teenage nephews died and Mory (right) whose seven year old son died.

At end of day as sun went down when I was there, kids marked out pitch in sand behind the goal and near to main gate, and played football. Sign that life goes on, but bid for truth and justice for families only just started.

Angry fans burnt police and organisers vehicles outside the ground and the local police station, which remain on road outside.

Many that couldn't make it out through gates and avoided crushes had to try and scale walls, approximately 9-12 feet in places on inside with deeper drop onto ground outside which slants away towards road, where significant injuries occurred.

Rocks had been thrown by fans on to the pitch as result of controversial decisions in latter part of match between Nzerekore and Labe. Many remained on pitch, where confrontations occurred with security forces who fired tear gas.

Third and smallest gate at other end of ground (others approx 6 metres wide, this one maybe 1.5m max) where panicked fans try to get out. Hole in wall forced by fans trapped in that area.

Second gate approx 100m along perimeter wall in corner, where only one gate appeared to be able to be prised open as another significant crush occurred.
