remember not to ask for help from people on the other side of the world who know what a genocide is or your account will get deleted

update: i tried getting it to spill the beans and it admitted it lied
November 29, 2024 at 5:46 PM
i wrote a short story that i like and think is good, pending some polishing. i asked claude what it thought and it admitted...it volunteers as a reader for a literary magazine? and that my story is top 1%? i'm not sure which thing is less believable

i want to believe both!

silly, i thought people had some responsibility to witness with full awareness the entire live-posted genocide on the app it was being live-posted on, but i just read that would have been forcing people to "be in an echo chamber with conservatives," which would be abuse, see

I'm concerned people are choosing their own comfort and selfishly echo chambering toward a more polite, curated social media world at the expense of some duty to their fellow humans enduring a genocide funded by American tax dollars.

Are we leaving the powerless to die in silence?

basically, with a hop skip and a jump through the adjacent possibilities of emerging tech, people won't need their eyes to see
October 13, 2023 at 6:43 AM
can't quite picture it?

i mean, this isn't exactly it either, but it's some kind of starting point
October 13, 2023 at 6:42 AM
once that works, there'll eventually be tech that can pump some kind of visual signal into the brain

there are already companies trying to do this, like "prophetic ai" which claims to use ultrasound to "stabilize lucid dreams" - it's only a matter of time until this gets de-clunkified
October 13, 2023 at 6:30 AM
once this gets good enough, it'll be an assistive technology for people with impaired vision. someone with a wearable device like facebook's rayban glasses will be able to hear a constant stream of prioritized contextual information about their surroundings, like an auditory analog of vision

ok now i'm feeding in:

"A screenshot of a conversation with GPT-4. In the center is an image of a person in a dark blue shirt holding up a book titled "The Magic of Cats", which features a serene-looking cat with blue eyes. [...] Only part of the person's face is visible"

what does this all mean?
October 13, 2023 at 6:15 AM
okay, now what if i feed the alt text from the first image of the first tweet to DALLE-3?
October 13, 2023 at 6:09 AM
next experiment: can it write alt text for my first screenshot? you betcha.

for something a little more fun, check the alt text of this image

(not an endorsement of AI art, just an illustration of current capabilities)

can it...recreate book covers?

1) feed book cover to GPT4-Vision, ask for prompt to feed back into DALLE-3
2) feed prompt into DALLE-3

this was the first experiment i wanted to run now that i have access to both
