The whole point of chaos is that it turns you into a grotesque parody of yourself though. Chaos isn't noble rebels, it's twisted, self hating madmen. Siding with the guys who are explicitly grotesque stereotypes and then complaining that they're stereotypes is a bit silly.

The Commonwealth literally started the succession wars by attacking Marik. And that was 9 months before Minoru Kurita declared himself First Lord. And they weren't exactly innocent in the 4th war either - Hanse and Katrina planned that together. Everybody is a bastard in Battletech.

Imperialist, arrogant, interventionist bunch of assholes describes every faction in Battletech though. Except maybe the Magistracy, and even they're a bit iffy. You could call them hypocrites I guess, but Hanse was pretty honest about attacking the Cappies for revenge and to claim a path past Terra.

I know. And it's not that they couldn't do red, because the Gundam and White Base all have proper red on them. Char just paints his mecha pinky peach and calls himself the Red Comet.
