Imagine my disappointment when I found out that this wasn't in celebration of Arms Length Bodies

What a feast we were served for the all night Prom! Kudos to Anna Lapwood because that was a great programme - and testimony to that was how quick the 8 hours (8!) flew by!

Should probably get some sleep now... 💤

Incredible late night Arvo Part prom - with the sublime Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir 🇪🇪

Great first #BBCProms tonight. Bought tickets because we love Arooj Aftab's voice, and then discovered the joy of Ibrahim Maalouf on the night!

Worse ways of starting off the Bank Holiday early...

If we can stretch to TV, then the (fictional) setting here is even closer

A movie that takes place where you're from

Second Graham was obviously Dear England. Not sure edits added a huge amount (no Sunak or Starmer?) but still great. Interesting watching too after Southgate's Dimbleby lecture on male role models

(Didn't take a pic, so here's the National looking nice)

Time then for a mini James Graham run - Punch deserves all the great reviews. You can really tell a James Graham play now - perhaps because of Julie Hesmondhalgh - but feels a little (mean this as praise) like soap writing in parts?

But Much Ado Nothing was very fun. Hayley Atwell a better actor than Tom H I thought, and all the meta-celeb stuff genuinely worked

Eek - very much fallen behind on these.

I think the reason I paused was because the next thing I saw was Oedipus at the Old Vic. I was... Not a fan.

Yesterday marked the halfway point in my BBC contract, so what better way to spend it than by joining the first ever BBC Partner Symposium, hearing about great projects and the organisations that make them happen

Highlight had to be Sir Lenny Henry & Richard Curtis on Comic Relief's 40 years!

Dad's Christmas present from us last night, which was The Last Laugh - great impressions of Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe & Bob Monkhouse. Not quite sure the pathos worked, but he enjoyed so did the job!

Backstroke at the Donmar. Script could do with some editing, and superfluous video, but proof that Tasmin Grieg & Celia Imrie are great actors

Okay you've all got to get tickets for Kenrex at @swkplay.bsky.social - incredible one man (and one musician) show

Not just because of the solo performance, but also because of the way it approaches the true crime story 💯

Saw The Years last night and it deserves all the praise it's getting. Very good - also, very French 🥐

And then last night was Elektra at the Duke of York's. Not a lottalove from the critics for this - and yeah, it doesn't quite work. But like the fact it's trying something different. And Brie Larson gives loads trying to sell that ambition

Slower start to the year - but good to be back at @hadestownmusical.bsky.social last week to see the OG cast. Saw them back at the National and fascinating to see how much they've grown into the roles!

May have already binged the season, but a treat to get to see the first episode of Season 4 on the big screen - and a Q&A with the cast! Nice little perk of @rtsmedia.bsky.social membership

Powerful evening watching a preview screening of The Last Musician of Auschwitz, which explores the many ways music was used and abused within the camp, through testimony and recital.

A hard but necessary watch - airing on BBC Two for Holocaust Memorial Day, 27th Jan

Tonight was Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 at the Donmar.

Amazing. Really great fun, brilliant performances, but still full of poetry and depth. Also felt like it captured the era perfectly despite modern dress. Already looking at rebooking!

First up was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Almeida. Big fan of Rebecca Frecknall's, and first time seeing the play. Enjoyed but didn't quite love?

From a couple of nights ago, but Ballet Shoes at the National is exactly the heartwarming magical show you want at this time of year (indeed, most times of year!) 🩰

Pretty much the perfect prescription to feel Christmassy: a weekend in Winchester featuring carols in the cathedral, one of the best Christmas markets I've been to & gluttonous amounts of cheese
