Actually, ZUN used AI to generate the spell backgrounds for all new characters back in UDoALG as well. Hisami's for example has this weird blur and distortion that makes the AI usage really obvious.

ye AI is still being used in the full version, mainly in the stage and spell backgrounds. there is anti-AI commentary in the plot, though him using it for the characters that aren't entirely involved with the anti-AI-ness is a shame, kinda makes it like an excuse more than anything

The difficulty with some of the textures comes from uncertainty - are the textures used just strange-looking, or are they meshed with AI? We believed the dragon was complex enough for it to not be a genAI asset.
We went through more of the assets. As of now, the title screen has been changed.

even though I was unsuccessful in making patterns for every single day, I'm very happy with how the patterns I've made turned out! I believe I'll be able to dedicate more time and effort into the other projects that are in my backburner. Perhaps you'll see something playable from me in March?
