Yeah, the cameras on my Telus security system are very sensitive too. They confused the snow for people a bunch last night. Those cameras also think that magpies are people too

Yeah, it’s nice to have that piece of mind for when you’re not at home.

That’s another cool smart home thing I’ve thought of. Leak sensors in the key areas and those devices that you can attach to your main valve to remotely turn off the water in an event like that

I’ve found that you can also use cameras effectively as motion sensors too. A little project I want to do when it warms up is change the front outdoor light fixture, connect a smart switch and have the front yard camera turn it on when it senses motion. I said it’s a slippery slope for me

Yeah, I’ve looked at that one but I’m too far down in the Apple Home ecosystem. I could use the newer nest one fine, but I couldn’t use use all the features within the Apple Home app, and it’s a purely subjective thing but the ecobee looks a smidge better to me.

I tried some lightbulbs in my bathroom but I’m finding it’s better just to use smart switches since the bulbs effectively don’t work when you turn the dumb switch off.

Yeah, the thermostat would be great. I’m wanting to get that $300 ecobee one. It can double up as an AirPlay speaker 😂

The smart home stuff is turning into a slippery slope though. Started with the deadbolts, then the outdoor cameras, light switches, plugs, air quality and humidity sensors…

Yeah, it wouldn’t be the worst project for me to run a C wire myself, whenever I do get to that. And thankfully my furnace is fairly new so it’s pretty easy to connect. And there are decent options out there for smart switches to put in homes like this.

Though I won’t lie, would be nice to have some modern touches to electrical, like Ethernet cable running throughout the home and common wires on light switches and the thermostat. But that’s mostly just for my nerdy tech and smart home ambitions lol

I’m finding the nice thing about my 1980 home is that it’s built to modern enough standards that I’m not finding surprises when I open stuff up but the lumber and workmanship was still a better quality than something built in the last 10-15 years.

You’ll never beat the wood (phrasing!) used in a home of that vintage. Shame everything else seems to be made of asbestos or lead.

I hate how much I pay for Sportsnet+ Premium Max

So happy for you guys! I’ve been watching since the Vancouver days and it’s been incredible watching your growth as a YouTuber and a person. Can’t wait to see how you use a baby as a prop in one of your videos.

This team still has it in them to finish in a wildcard spot

I mean it in the most complimentary way, but this will be what finally makes me a regular pc gamer.

Very on brand for Canadian soccer for this to happen.

Alright, I’ll add it to the queue after I’m finished Astro Bot and Stellar Blade. And if I don’t get distracted anymore by Assassins Creed 2 lol

How is it to play? Seems to be getting pretty good reviews but the first person perspective still seems like an odd choice to me.

To the tune of Losing My Religion?

To be fair, I think the logo vest crowd is trying to lay low these days.
