sorry I haven't shared much music lately. I take lots of bird pictures now instead. here's a female Wood Duck (my current favorite bird)

nice to see that Big Tweet is still possible so long as it’s something stupid and unrelated to my creative endeavors

23) Ruby-crowned Kinglet

extremely tiny cute guys with a fiery hairdo. in my experience you’ll rarely see them quite like this as they typically keep the crest concealed, but you still can see a tiny red spot. they’ll shoot it up when angry which is kind of funny

22) Belted Kingfisher

saw one today :) small cute little guys that sport a punk haircut. has a very distinct “rattle” sound which makes them a bit easier to find. can hover in place while getting ready to dive for a fish

21) Bewick's Wren

similar look to the carolina wren but more gray-ish. i don't really have an interesting fact about this one. i just like that they look a bit grumpy
November 22, 2024 at 4:04 PM
20) Northern Shoveler

similar to wood ducks, smaller than mallards but has their cuteness factor somewhat reduced by their large, shovely bill. sorry. really interesting and creative feeding behavior where they swim in circles to bring food up to the water's surface

19) Carolina Wren

cute and small. kind of hard to spot but fun to watch hopping around if you see one. nests and sleeps in weird spots, often attached to houses (gutters, porches). there’s a subreddit dedicated to documenting this: r/sleepywrens

18) Chimney Swift

funny little guys. sometimes called "flying cigar". they used to nest in tree hollows but ever since humans started making more ideal, stable vertical structures, they almost only make nests on those (commonly on chimneys)

17) Turkey Vulture

freaks but i love them. exclusively eats carrion (i.e. roadkill and other half eaten carcasses). huge. they have a characteristic sort of "wobble" when flying which makes them easier to spot. stomach made of steel and acid so they can eat about anything. throws up when threatened
