Sid Chaplin Award winner at the Northern Writers' Awards 2024. Poetry pamphlet THE FIRST THIRTY YEARS EP out with Broken Sleep Books. County Durham. Rep: Peters Fraser + Dunlop.
I’ve abandoned this for a while.

This week my debut poetry pamphlet comes out with @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social. Please buy, read it, take a photo of it and post it, whatever you can to support writers and small presses.

Read this in two sittings. A harrowing exploration of how people can descend into unspeakable evil and one I’ll be recommending from now on. @northodoxpress.bsky.social

Sid Chaplin by Norman Cornish.

No one captured the North East like these two. It was an honour to win an award in Sid Chaplin's name. His son, Michael, also a successful writer, helped judge. He told me his father would have liked my novel, and I don't think a compliment has ever meant as much.

Tyne Cot Cemetery is a WWI cemetery near Passchendaele, Belgium. My great-great grandfather's name is engraved in one of the walls there. In 2023, we were the first of his family to visit after discovering the records had spelt his surname incorrectly.

Two anthologies I've recently had poems featured and a poem from one.

INHERITANCE from Late Britain Press.

SPACES OF SIGNIFICANCE from Off The Chest. (My poem 'Tyne Cot Cemetery' is from this anthology.)
