Loved this! A clever book about class, identity politics, media which unwraps them in thoughtful layers while remaining incredibly entertaining.

Well this by @nicolaz.bsky.social was very good indeed! Feel like I less read than moved in and lived there. Hild herself is an extraordinary creation and to see C6 Britain through eyes mesmerising. The evocation of nature and the complex politics equally accomplished. It made me read so late!

What an extraordinary novel, deeply satisfying, beautifully written. Can only hope the oligarchs and oil executives get to pick it up.

Because I’m an idiot I’d probably never have picked this up if it wasn’t for book club and I’m so glad I did. Sharp and precise and true, funny and sad. And the men are nearly all fantastically awful. Good choice @phillimilne.bsky.social

This is very good indeed. @joseph-gent.bsky.social set a bit to the east of you, a history I knew nothing of.
May 21, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Well this was bleak, and arresting and full philosophical space and small miracles. @phillimilne.bsky.social have you read?

This is absolutely lovely!

Just had the good fortune to read @aptshadow.bsky.social ‘s excellent Alien Clay and then to pick up the below which shares the intellectual underpinnings of humans being ’…only a recent twiglet on an ancient and enormous genealogical bush’

Dylan Thomas, TF Powys, Hemingway. Loved the Katherine Mansfield story about a young woman’s first Ball. Patrick O’Brian’s Samphire. Top stories!
