Working on new features tonight for #QRV

Favorited callsigns will highlight recent spots (incl. multiple bands) on the Lookup page; tap into it for more detail. With a QRZ logbook subscription, searches will also show worked bands and confirmation status.

#QRV 1.1 is out! I added power/voltage/current calculations and suggested wire gauge based on those numbers. Also a few bug fixes, of course. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

One of my beta testers asked about DXCC, ITU zones, and CQ zones. Ask, and you shall receive (a reference page)! You scroll all or filter the view.

I'm targeting a 1.0 submission date of November 30th, so it's crunch time.

Okay, for the first time, I have considered iPad layouts! I only have a Mini, so if you have a larger iPad, let me know how it feels! #iOSdev #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

#QRV has widgets! Still tinkering with the design, as there's a lot of info to include. Let me know what y'all think, and remember that I'm still accepting beta testers: testflight.apple.com/join/4K2TBGSx

Really pleased with my latest work on #QRV. Behind the scenes, I'm tinkering with how to monetize the app without being a jerk.

Cooler though, I've done a first pass at adding filters to Live Spots. You can now see all spots, filter by continent, or by selected DXCC. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #iOSDev

Oh, and folks were rightfully complaining about the poor contrast with my .accentColor. I made it darker for light mode!

The settings are also more fleshed out. You can learn more about the app and developer (me 👋), and you can select a preferred default tab for when you launch the app.

Tonight's #QRV update:
I've added a lot info and calculations around making 1/2-wave dipoles and EFHWs. I also cleaned up some of the UX in the calculator to make it more intuitive when you switch units, etc. The screenshot shows calculations for a 40m EFHW.

And here are the Q-Codes!

Nothing crazy complicated, but here is the NATO alphabet and a sample of the VHF/UHF quick reference. Oh, and you can edit your call sign in the settings after initial app setup. That seemed like an obvious oversight.

Here's the current onboarding flow. All steps can be skipped, and the user has the ability to re-do any of these steps later from settings. (Note that I already had location services enabled on my simulator)

Tonight in #QRV:

I'm working on live spots with data from PSK Reporter and your grid square. My results are differing from those in HamClock, but it's possible that we use different approaches. The ratio of spots is what's really important, I guess. This one has been tough! #hamRadio #amateurRadio

Oh, and it will help you calculate dipole lengths on the fly! The band conditions are cached for up to an hour (at the request of the HamQSL maintainer), and you can see the last time that they were fetched.

An update on my iOS app for ham operators! I was able to pick the name QRV on the App Store. It now pulls call sign info from QRZ and HamQTH for quick lookups. The user can login to one or both. If both, they can set a preference, but it will always fall back to the result with more complete data.

It's always nice getting recognition, even if it's minor. I designed a 3D-printable laptop holder that was very specific to my needs, and people seem to like it! I tried out a unique support/orientation design to good effect.

Have you ever used Hamclock? You can set your DE and DX, then get a chart suggesting the best time and bands to make contact! Here's a screenshot for NY to Albuquerque, NM.

Happy new year everyone. Meet Maeve! She jumped into our carrier at the SPCA, so I guess she really wanted to come home.
