Listeners to BBC's Radio 4's "Today" programme will remember when James Naughtie famously mispronounced then minister Jeremy Hunt's surname ... OK, it's not as dramatic, my hearing isn't what it was and I was slowly emerging from fairly deep sleep, but did I really hear the words "President Slump"?

Perhaps I'm naïve, but I can't understand why anyone would want to vote for a political candidate who has been convicted of stealing taxpayers'/voters' money. If they steal when they're not in office, what would they do in government? One only has to look across the Atlantic for one answer.

A wonderful friend who was an organist in Boston (Mass) played a Sunday afternoon recital there probably 15 years ago now ... Télématin on France 2 carried a report about repairing the instrument. Ken was a sweet, dear man who loved France. (He also did a gig at St Sulpice.) Thinking of you today.

Trump looking old and unsteady on his feet going up slippery steps ... male pattern baldness getting harder to disguise ... together with Alexander B de Pfeffel Johnson (son of Stanley), that can't go on forever ... very alone. He has to take Musk rather than Melania as his "plus one" .... so sad.
