Yeah, I'm jelly. If it had been a few years before I could have done the same at a better price. Right now it's a nightmare. I hope the Steam Machine is at least around a console price, then I think it would be a fair deal compared to how the market looks right now.

Tried to cram a 9060XT 16GB in a decent price in a small and attractive Bazzite box and it was hard going under $1000 of parts, and cheaper AMD GPUs basically didn't exist with more than 8GB of VRAM.

It will most definitely be cheaper than any ITX PC I tried to build earlier this year and I already had spare CPUs and RAM from a previous build. PC building is a mess if you want to build tight and powerful. At least here in the Nordics.

Running EmuDeck on it will be fantastic. Hope it's not too expensive.

Actually really liked my first generation Steam Controller.

Under the bus might be the wrong phrase, but not really helping in the messaging surrounding the controversy. Them going "deal with it" is not really defusing the conversation.

At the same time Nexon is kinda throwing them under the bus, as long as Embark is honest about their usage. Of course

Rocked a 3080 for a while, but jumped ship after the launch of the 50 series as the prices ran away and gains was mostly just about ML. Went back to AMD after almost 10 years of Nvidia GPUs. I miss a few features but am mostly living in Linux Land as the latest and greatest wasn't fun anymore...

Wouldn't help me as I'm running both a 9070 XT AND linux... But if Ray Regeneration becomes a thing and hacked for Linux, yeah. Hopefully!

I try to replay Skyrim from time to time but it's hard for me. I hope Elder Scrolls VI has better quests and storytelling but... If Starfield is anything to go by it's unlikely.

It will probably be fine in the end, it's just frustrating to play many modern game that are more "realistic" but the temporal artifacts, boiling and fizzling doesn't always make games feel that more better looking as an end product. I'm an enthusiast but these last few years has lessened it for me.

I hate every single quest and dialogue in it but man it's addicting to build an empire of junk.

And by force I mean in UE specifically. I'm fine with Doom as it's far more stable and not as noisy, stuttery and inefficient as modern Unreal. I like RT but I don't like the performance and look of Lumen.
November 10, 2025 at 4:43 PM
It's not a singleplayer game though. And congrats running probably a 5090 that costs more than my entire PC (and it's not even a shitty one), If that's what you need to even enjoy a game as they're too ugly otherwise more power to you. I'm just glad to play a game that doesn't have it on by force.

Smart glasses with a GPS, accelerometer and maybe a LIDAR sensor if AR is a thing they do, that I could stomach, but the cameras feel like a privacy nightmare and easy to abuse.

But seriously, if some light leak and not perfect bounce lighting is the price for an overall pleasant presentation that runs well and sharply enough, it was a worthy sacrifice. It's not as full of visual noise and artifacts that lower internal resolutions and RT would add as well. A balancing act.

OH GOD IT'S SO HIDEOUS! BEGONE WITH IT HOW CAN A MORTAL MAN GAZE UPON THESE WRETCHED VERTICES?! THIS GAME IS BUT A BLIGHT UPON THE PIXEL OF WHICH IT CROSSES! UNPLAYABLE DRECK IN THIS STATE. I WISH I COULD TRADE 66% OF THE FRAMES FOR SOME SOFTWARE LUMEN BOILING AT THE EDGES. Yuck is it's name.

It also looks pretty good without the bells and whistles of UE5. Even if it doesn't run Nanite and Lumen it's still a pretty game.
