I like Nemesis but I feel like the sparks are never flying, I want all the angst and tension to blow up, but 4 pints of ambrosia only seems to have cooled things down.

This is really amazing, absolutely gorgeous. I kind of wish there were prints of it, it's so beautiful. The light and colours, the composition, it's just sumptuous.

You gotta smash more, 'cause this is great! I love the darker text on the penultimate page sort of implying that the *start* of her lines are edited, but the rest is her rolling with it. "Five Actually" is 🥰 perfect.

They'll use the same ones for the cards and the posters, so yeah, it's doing double duty. Suspect there's also the "more detail is more good" crowd who would just think they're being cheated if they got art like the OG Dark Ritual now.

Planeswalkers the cards represent an idea that was in Magic from the start- the Planeswalkers were the players. Immortal wizards with libraries full of spells who hopped between dimensions, recruiting creatures to summon into battle

Apparently this change goes back to the 90s. Planeswalkers basically summon simulacra of creatures they know, while the actual creatures remain in their original location. Ruined my favourite story about an inn where a load of people lived who were summoned for nearby PW duels and abandoned.

Whereas the iconic early cards are things that read well across a table and are clearly composed to be on cards, but if you blew the art up for a poster it might not hold up so well.

I was thinking about your comment about how the art looks like video game screenshots now. I feel like a lot of the art now is full scenes, and often done so that the art looks great when blown up. I like this art, for instance, but on the actual card I never realised the castle was flying

I think MTG books have been naff for years. I read Tapestries & Myths of Magic when I was a kid, both short story compendiums and I LOVED them. I was devastated to learn that they were all out of continuity almost immediately. Did you know that planeswalkers no longer really summon creatures??

Feel a bit bad because although I've followed magic and can remember most of the Standard meta staples from the last 5-10 years, I'm hard pushed to think of one that I was like "Oh yeah the art was great, I'd put that on my wall"

Simple but nice - the full art Island That Is Actually An Island. Big, blue, beautiful! Some of the more highly stylized early stuff too reminds me of one of my favourites artists, Mucha. And Avacyn because goth angel lady.

They have pretty strict rules about the colours that show up in the artwork too, so this oldie with lots of red on a monowhite card would never happen now. This card looks extremely weird, but I remember it, decades later!

Sometimes you see an old card pop up and you're just like "Wow it's so iconic" because they were allowed to just draw it on a black field instead of every one having to be a little scene.

IIRC when the raids came out this was covered in a regular machinima style cutscene, and the FMV was added after it was revealed in a Fanfest. I remember seeing Yoshi-P reveal it on a stream. Very cool! I couldn't clear the raid myself until unsyncing at 70 T_T

I love your art. I follow a lot of bump artists, but I think more than any other you really capture physical affection so well. It's both a little erotic and extremely sweet to see Harley loving Ivy, and Ivy's lil' blush. It's intimate.

My favourite boss in the whole game. I remember wiping for a whole afternoon on it with randoms before they nerfed the meteor mechanic. The music when you get sucked into Ozma's Gloriole is so good too.

Amazing pictures. With this one, I was kinda curious- what's the deal with the TV-frame around the image? I spent ages scratching my head trying to think of some pokemon lore for is but couldn't figure it out!
