In these troubled times... the G20 declaration just adopted in Rio shows the value and the promise of international cooperation, with much good language in line with the EU's aims on global environmental issues that the world must urgently address.

As a small example of environmental language in the declaration, its paragraphs 55 to 58, about: commitment to implement the COP15 biodiversity deal; protecting forests; managing waste; and ambition to conclude a new global plastics agreement this year.
