🌎 Agriculture is by far the biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil. According to latest figures of #SEEG it is responsible for direct emissions of 29%, as well as contributing to 43% of emissions from land use change - often clearing of land for agriculture and farming purposes.

☠️ #Bayer and their agribiz friends use #COP30 as "an outstanding opportunity for agribusiness to be seen as part of the solution to the challenges posed by climate change". Without sacrificing 'productivity' thanks to buzzword ‘sustainable intensification’. Ever more #pesticides is the reality.

🇧🇷 Brazil is one of the biggest users of chemicals in agriculture: consumption reached $14.3 billion in 2024, exceeding even the US. Soy, corn, sugar cane and coffee use the most #pesticides. #Bayer is the second biggest seller, Brazil consumed in 2024 increased 8.5% or 1.5 million tonnes. 😱
