If they have a:
-Pistol Grip
-Vertical Foregrip
-Adjustable Stock
-Flash Hider
-A magazine higher than 10 rounds
They're an assault rifle, and thus its banned.
So you have to do something like this to make it legal.

Its funny because I realize a lot of laws in California that restrict guns are all under the illusion of safety. None of the changes that California forces you to put on an AR-15 actually make is safer.
