Rocky came to work with me yesterday for his first full shift and mostly did pretty well! I gave him a break today and left him at home, and multiple employees have asked me where is is today. 😂🥹

HE DID SO GOOD AT WORK TODAY. He did cry a bit when I left his sight to go to the bathroom, but was otherwise great. He and Bubba played a lot of the day and Rocky was so good about meeting the one vet tech he hadn’t seen yet.

We’ve recently discovered Rocky LOVES sticks. If he finds one on the ground, it’s going in his mouth, regardless of size. Last week, he picked up one the size of a baseball bat and nearly took out my partner at the knees in his excitement.

Rescue dogs are The Best. My first boy was an owner surrender to a shelter who’d never been indoors, and I’m both thankful for and will never understand how some idiot didn’t know how lucky they were to have him.

Rocky is much more cautious of new things than I’m used to in a dog, so we’re having to take very tiny baby steps towards getting him comfortable with having his nails filed. Yesterday’s accomplishment was him allowing his feet to be touched at all with the file (while receiving snacks).

I’m still grieving Flynn and I imagine will be for a very long time, but home just hasn’t felt right without the presence of a dog. So a couple weeks ago, my partner and I brought home Rocky. 🖤

Had a rough time the last little bit of the drive without him, then I get to my boyfriend’s house, where he hands me a tiny package. His grandmother, who I’ve not even met yet, sent me this. I immediately burst into tears, lmao 🥹😭

Last week, Flynn very suddenly and unexpectedly passed on the way to the emergency vet, after losing vision in one eye and the onset of absent seizures just a few days before. The vets have told me it was likely an aggressive brain bleed or tumor that nothing could really be done about.

Please send some good vibes Flynn’s way. We went to the emergency vet yesterday after realizing he’s lost vision in his left eye; they couldn’t find any immediate physical cause, so the concern is it’s neurological in origin.
