I came home to some very exciting mail. Heartsick and Other Stories contains, among many other treasures, my first published piece of fiction. I'm currently listening to Ursula K. Le Guin's Changing Planes and it is absolutely delightful. It's a joy to be reminded of how witty and thoughtful her words are, and how immersive her worlds. 💙📚

Today is a good day because a sheep broke sheep-law and approached me to say hi. This is immensely fulfilling since one of my life's secret side quests is to be friends with every animal I cross paths with.

We lost our power for 22 hours because of Storm Eowyn (almost like naming the storm after the woman who killed the Witch King might give it an edge). Did some reading by candlelight (Emily St. John Mandel's Sea of Tranquility) and thought about how lucky we are to be safe and warm.
In the foreground; a pink candle burned down nearly all the way. The wax looks neat because the shiny hot wax contrasts with the satiny texture of the dryer bits around the edge. Behind it is a candle powered lava lamp with orange wax globules floating around.

The spookiest part of episode 1 was these uncovered boxes in what I’m going to call the supernatural bits pantry because even though I respect the labels, there’s no way I'm calling it an archive. Are those boxes even acid free?

We do about 2 sourdoughs a week but I've decided to branch out and try yeasted breads. Behold my first focaccia! I could just keep making these because I love a bread based delivery system for oil and salt, but I'm trying to figure out something different to try next. Any ideas? #breadsky
