That’s blisteringly good value. I’d pay half that for some of your skeets.

How much for a very good one?

Easier to do with Tuco that with Angel Eyes, admittedly.

I take your point, but also think the varying grades of amorality demonstrated by all three main characters is part of what makes this and other Italian Westerns interesting. Our sympathies still need somewhere to settle, and that means finding the aspects within each character that make them human.

That was exactly my experience too.

Yes, I was wondering if Cox’s second viewing was of a different cut.

Brilliant article. In my teens, Alex Cox totally changed the way I encountered a film. Am also delighted to learn that Moviedrome was required viewing in UK prisons.

This line stuck with me from the Moviedrome Guide (mail order, delivery time ca six months):

“If The Good, The Bad and The Ugly had been set in Europe and directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, it would have won ten Oscars. But it was a Western, it was directed by Sergio Leone, and it didn’t.”

I remember all of these ones too. Assault on Precinct 13 was my first Moviedrome watch, at 13 years old. Mind-blowing.

Sidenote: when a bit of the BBC is pissing you off, do try to say which bit rather than just attacking the corporation in general. That just helps its political enemies.
