To improve schools should principals be allowed to trade teachers like athletes? For example…How about getting one superstar math teacher for 1 science teacher, 2 English teachers, and a bilingual student teacher?

I have been working on a new session on "AI for Social Studies" that covers using AI for Prompts, Role Playing, Debates, Simulations, Content Aggregation & Custom Maps.

Here is the resource doc (with slideshow linked inside): bit.ly/curts-aisoc

Would love feedback & suggestions!

Show this to students and ask them to create something related to what they are learning.

In the last week I've seen posts, on various sites, saying that baking should be taught in school, chess should be taught in school, and a few others. It all sounds good...but there's only so much time in the school day.

Much should be taught at home.

@cbortlearts.bsky.social Was looking at your bio. It reminded me that the last time I bulk loaded film was more than 50 years ago. Fun time.😀

BEWARE‼️

Teachers should always get written permission in advance before you take photos of students! Teachers should always inform the principal before they undertake this activity!

[This is the advice I always gave when I was a tech staff developer for the NYC DOE.]
#Photographers #Teachers -- If you own a view camera why don't you offer to bring it to a school and show it to a class (kindergarten is great). Let the kids look at the upside down image, take a class photo, and return in a couple of weeks with the picture! #photography #viewcamera #creativity #fun

This is a great family activity that can be adapted for the classroom. I did something like it about 30 years ago when my son was in kindergarten. Kids loved it.

Here's an interesting activity for parents, grandparents, and teachers...using a potato chip you can to see how pinhole cameras work (it doesn't take pictures)...

Bluesky feels like the first time we all tried Twitter, when real people were actually behind the accounts.

Taking pictures is a great activity, especially when using a #camera that doesn't need a battery, has no lens, is frequently made of wood, and uses (real) film that is as large as 4"x5" (or larger). They are called #PINHOLE CAMERAS and you can make them yourself. Here's one I bought on eBay.

Does a post need a graphic to get noticed and read? I wonder.

One of my favorite activities for teachers and students is to create mind maps. Whenever I write an article or plan a presentation I always start with a mind map. I asked Claude.ai to create one that might offer suggestions for teachers. Here's what it came up with.

The worst #edtech question I ever got (and I've gotten it more than once) is "what should I use?" The best question should be "is there anything I can use to solve a problem I've got?"

#Edtech is great (my last job was as an #edtech staff developer for the NYC DOE) but #notech works too!

Pens, pencils, paper, and #creativity have worked for a very long time.
