Women across the Pacific region and in low income countries globally are also bearing the brunt of #climate impacts but with fewer resources to mitigate the risks or respond when disasters hit.

The ICJ advisory opinion found that government's that fail to take action on fossil fuels could have to pay compensation to countries that bear the brunt of climate impacts. All the signals are pointing to an urgent need for climate leadership not the approval of a carbon bomb.

The government is about to release it's new 2035 emissions reduction target, which must substantially increase ambition in line with the global goal of keeping global heating to 1.5 degrees if Australia is to play its part in averting the worst impacts of the climate crisis.
