It’s gritty, brutal, and surprisingly heartfelt. A British action gem hiding behind pub brawls and pride.

@fuforthought.bsky.social to discuss the 1996 movie The Long Kiss Goodnight. A somewhat timely action flick to end the Christmas week with! Shaun was great to sit down and chat with and oh boy do we have some fun with this one!

Teaming up with @blindspotspodcast.bsky.social for a double movie event and a silly idea that came up in the episode is now a reality. Tried to channel those ads you don't get so much of anymore and I had a lot of fun #actionsky

Yeah I know. Fist of Fury is fantastic but I grew up with this one sorry. It's got 4 power house martial artists who all deliver the goods. The final battle is one for the books and honestly WKA Super Welterweight kickboxing champion Billy Chow is always terrifying as the villain

Apparently this was a lot of people's first foray into satire, even if they didn't know it 🤣
I've always loved this film, if anything I think this has only gotten better with the passage of time and if you can see it in 4K on a big screen it is 100% worth it!

I rewatched this movie more times than I can recall. Something about it absolutely captivated me. Banderas is great in this and the mythological aspect around this was something I'd continue to find interesting in film right up to today.

Donnie vs Sammo. I mean come on that was always going to be enough for me but just... where to start? The story, Wu Jing,s knife fight, Sammo's performance as a pitch perfect mob boss. The bleak depression knowing everyone dies, the good guys dont save the day and everything sucks?

The Three Dragons coming together and firing on all cylinders. Jackie and Sammo especially have some great fights in this one and one scene in particular sees them side by side moving in perfect sync. The clocktower stunt alone is worth the price of entry.

The first indian action movie I watched that started me down a path of exploration and discovery. It still holds up as one of my favourites from it's themes of redemption to it's two leading actors giving amazing performances.
