If they can see my voice as a gesture of love rather than a sign that times are different and things are not the same, that would be a win in my book.

Only time will tell.

I also recognize this isn't the easy path. I can't just shut them out, despite their viewpoints. I have to at least try and provide some resistance to their current worldview.

At least then, if it doesn't work out, I can say that I did everything that I could.

I can't even imagine trying to explore the area as a kid today in the same way that I did 30 years ago.

It does feel quite soulless. All that green earth and open sky just to build another damn box.
