I miss Stan Lee’s cameos in Marvel movies.
Sure, directly copying the most well-remembered moment from its predecessor would’ve earned the movie some flak (not like it hasn’t garnered its fair share of flak already), but Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross should’ve showed up in TRON: ARES like Daft Punk did in TRON: LEGACY.

I did actually talk about K-POP DEMON HUNTERS at brunch today.

I’ve been seeing people react to watching FREAKY FRIDAY (2003) for the first time in two decades recently as they revisited it before FREAKIER FRIDAY, so I was ready for the -uh- gong sound effects and the jokes Disney would not use today.

But I was *not* prepared for The Flaming Lips.

If your favorite scene in Phase IV of the MCU was the same as my favorite scene in Phase IV of the MCU, well then geez, are you in for a treat this weekend…

“Zach Cregger ‘Resident Evil’ movie” sounding “Guillermo del Toro giant monster-fighting robots movie”-level good right about now.

It’s nice to see the Jack Kirby quote from the end of THE FANTASTIC 4: FIRST STEPS generating so many reactions. I wish that Marvel Studios keeps that going as Phase VI continues.

Heck, put something like that, a formal epigraph, at the beginning of AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY — maybe a Jim Shooter quote?

Within the next few years, there’s gonna be a day where a new DCU movie trailer comes out, and it shows a bunch of cool stuff, but the keywords that break the internet will be “giant penny” and “dinosaur.”

I love recap pages in comic books. I loved the opening… well, not “scroll”… in SUPERMAN. I would love to see more comic book movies adopt this approach. It could be particularly useful for characters like Doctor Strange, who appeared in four other films between his 1st appearance and his 2nd movie.

When you love a moment in a trailer, and then the scene involving that moment from the trailer is *even better* in the context of the finished film? Bliss.

Music streaming apps have made it possible to instantly summon the *one* song that perfectly suits the moment.

But they also enable people with “control of the aux” to cycle through 90 seconds of five songs in a row without committing to any one full track.

So.
Net negative.

If we didn’t spend the 2010s giving clowns like Mike Cernovich the ability to manufacture outrage, then we could be looking at one of those big MCU slate images with a big logo for an “X-Men” film directed by James Gunn on it.
July 12, 2025 at 2:51 PM
I would 100% watch a “Mr. Terrific” series starring Edi Gathegi set in James Gunn’s new DCU, but my question is who do they pair him up with? Like it’s not a “Justice Gang” show. What wildcard do you have to complement Terrific? Who do you bounce off of him for No. 02 on the call sheet?

Almost certainly the only time we’ll get to see someone direct a Marvel film, then a DC film, then another Marvel film, and then another DC film…

We’re finally getting old DC/ Marvel crossover comics reprinted and new DC/ Marvel crossover comics released…

It’s the silliest hope to harbor, I know…

Things I still need ALWAYS SUNNY to do:
• tour The Nightman Cometh again
• a THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW episode
• Mac discovers queer cinema X “Lethal Weapon 8”
• alternate timeline where they didn’t ruin Cricket’s life (Cricket’s life still ruined)
• 3 more seasons of ANDOR
• “Charlie Work 2”

I wonder how many people are going to completely miss the last scene of SINNERS, now that it’s on streaming, because they’re too quick to instantly exit out of something once the first sign of end credits appears.

*imagining the alternate reality where Cassian Andor and Mon Mothma don’t interact for a whole seven real world years in the five season version of ANDOR*

“The Invisible Hand Of Fate”? Oh, you mean the animating spirit that determines when it’s time for a Nirvana track to come up on shuffle?

People,
I am begging you,
go back and watch THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, a Steven Spielberg film, again.

I just introduced my roommate to THE SOPRANOS. He’s watching the pilot.

Around the time I realized we’d been paused for a full 90 seconds so I could wax about how good John Ventimiglia is as Artie Bucco, I was like “I gotta step away; you-… You enjoy the show.” He’s about to meet Livia, hoo-boy.

I need someone to do what Emerald Fennell did with Paris Hilton’s 2006 single “Stars Are Blind” in PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, but with “What Dreams Are Made Of” from the 2003 film THE LIZZIE McGUIRE MOVIE.

… or, at least, I need M3gan to sing it.
July 1, 2025 at 5:06 AM
Oh, to be a fly on the wall when they discuss what song M3gan is going to sing in the next “M3gan” movie…
