Today @aclu-norcal.bsky.social and @eff.org filed a lawsuit on behalf of non-profit advocacy groups challenging San Jose’s warrantless searches as violating the California Constitution’s protections against unreasonable searches and right to privacy.

This reversed previous policies that recognized transgender and nonbinary people. It has also put them at risk of physical harm.
The case now goes back to the lower courts. The ACLU will continue our fight to reverse this cruel and unconstitutional policy.

Due to recent USPS changes, voters in many parts of the state who plan to drop their ballots at the post office today should ask for a postmark to make sure their vote is counted.
