CMS Admin. Dr. Oz tells @achp-org.bsky.social this morning that he wants CMS to improve efficiency and “be the best payer out there.” But adds that “we have to move the ship in a very precise way” because with rising costs “we’re basically becoming one big healthcare system with a small country.”

We support a comprehensive #Medicare program, but the proposed coverage of weight-loss drugs is deeply concerning—policymakers need to focus on the exorbitant costs & appropriate utilization.
The Biden administration Tuesday will propose expanding coverage of weight-loss medications for millions of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, a late-term proposal that officials said would boost public health and which puts pressure on the incoming Trump administration to finalize the benefit.
Medicare proposes covering weight-loss drugs, teeing up clash with RFK Jr.
The proposal would expand coverage of anti-obesity drugs to 7.5 million people covered by Medicare and Medicaid, the Biden administration said.
