Garden friends telling me that there'll come the moment where I don't want to see another courgette for the rest of the year.

That moment has not arrived yet. 🌱

(grilled slices in herb marinade; panko-fried blossoms filled with ricotta)

It's not summer at #univienna #tfmvienna until the cleaning crew tackles the window fronts!
(be careful, guys, we want you back next year)

...and this also happened yesterday at #tfmvienna #univie (after a very, very overtime-heavy year)

The courgette experiment is making a strong argument for a restaging next year: first time ever eating filled, baked blossoms - and from my own terrace garden, too. Yum. 🌱

First blossom on the chilis!
(they had a rough, windy start this year once they moved outside, but have recovered nicely. Only three small plants this year - grown from organic seeds from a friend's mom, friend, billed simply as "chili pepper - spice only." I'm curious to see what variety they are)

The zucchini plants are thriving! 🌱
(the ants and I still have a quarrel over ownership of the blossoms)

The facility cleaning crew showed up on Thursday.
All my mallows-of-the-cracks are gone. Every blade of green outside of a flowerpot is gone.
Sigh. 🌱

Four days of discussions and connections at Offene Räume/Open Spaces in Leipzig this past week - the 16th congress of the German Association for Theatre Studies (gtw), June 12-15. Wonderful to have so many students present, also from #tfmvienna!

Miss Figgy is starting into the weekend, I hope so are you! 🌱

Mallow morning. 🌱

Just saved this this little bumble buddy from batting his head against the hallway windows and let him out onto my lavender. The first half hour, he just clung to it in exhaustion, but now he's crawling around and enjoying a leisurely breakfast. 🐝 🌱

(There were some strawberries, too, but they already, uhm, disappeared.)

The chilis have moved outdoors! 🌱
(it is strange to have an empty windowsill again, with no seedlings to keep me company in the office)

At the moment, my #UrbanGardening project 🌱 looks like this - I am thinking about extending to courgettes this summer (I inherited a raised flower bed last winter that should be big enough?) and... somehow I have turned into someone who gardens?

Fast forward a few years, and I am now growing my own chili seedlings (inside the office) and then plant them outside. There's tomatoes, and arugula, and Swiss Chard; sunflowers and lavender for the bees, and ipomoea to keep me company (last year, up until November!) and mallows.

One day, I climbed out of my office window.
The first year, I put up two small pots of strawberries. They liked the sun and didn't mind the wind (I shared the harvest with a cheeky blackbird).
The second year, I added a few pots of lavender.
(that lavender behind the strawberries? A wild bush!)
