Another example I think that does go to prove your point are the recent videos of @prochara.bsky.social about the history of the meta of Splatoon 2, its amazing and captivating (tho in that case, its more targeted at the curious recent splatooner, it's a part of history that does need to be told)

So for some live splatoon events, it might need more works to get people to familiarize with the thrill of the comp scene. (even tho, as a complete beginner in those time, watching European championships or Ink TV Resurgence league was accessible and giving me strong chills with the stakes).

As a non-melee player, this is definitely true, because this scene shine through and reach far beyond its target audience.

However, as a viewer, melee is easily accessible, and then there are commentators that adds a good amount of understanding, and then there are so many incredible tales told.
