I have a theory, microservices were made heavily popular by cloud companies in order to boost their cloud sales.
The Amazon Prime Video team was able to reduce cost by moving from Serverless backed by Lambda to monoliths running on VMs.

I was fascinated with the games that came alive on Nokia phones with "Java Supported" feature!
I just wanted to create the likes of Nimbuzz & PES.
