I feel the real answer is mostly just up to how frequently are you using either object to play on and probably use the more frequent option

While not MTG, i used to have Yugioh Master Duel on both my pc and phone and would just play on my phone when I'm out and waiting around and then play on my for actual grinding since the interface for MD is a lot better on pc for certain things

May be the same for MTGA

It also depends on the interface, phone size, and phone memory since your phone may not be able to really handle a lot of what goes on and may run out of space for any future update(s)

A lot of the time, pvp TCG games aren't truly going to suck up your life unless you're going to heavily invest your entire self into it after learning it

I'd say maybe the first couple weeks or so you may indulge into it but after that it does end up becoming just another game on your phone
