I mean their dislike of Chinese tourists isn't necessarily going to impact their opinion of US tourists in a way that would impact their view of the US. They can dislike both.

Tbf that one might not just be trump. Far too many American tourists in Japan are pretty trash too and just make us look like we're probably all like him. They're a minority of tourists, but - like always - a very loud minority.
