The past year has been largely learning the ropes and finding what I like, and now that I’ve done that I’d like to explore many kinds of campgrounds all over the state this year!

As a final note, here are some pictures from my last camping trip at Tahquamenon Falls in late October.

Lastly, the site needs to have a clear view of the sky, which means little foliage over the sites themselves as well as little light pollution. If that isn’t an option, other night views such as this view of the Mackinaw Bridge at Mill Creek Campground are also good!

Most importantly, campsites are going to need to have beautiful sights in or nearby the site. Whether that be from a dense forest or a beautiful lake, I’m not picky, but the sights of nature are truly important for me.

My first campground I visited was one in a city, and it honestly wasn’t very good. This experience helped me understand what I find valuable in a campsite. Electricity isn’t necessary, and honestly just drives up the price up. I also found I liked being mostly on my own.

I live in a place with quite a bit of light pollution, and stargazing is one of my favorite activities, in the spring of 2024 I thought that camping would be a great way to get out more, as well as a great chance to find clearer skies.
