I think Trump has amplified anti-immigrant sentiment, but it's not true that he created it. Xenophobia has always been a force in conservative politics even when it wasn't as dominant as it is now. Pat Buchanan didn't win elections, but he got a lot of votes and always had a powerful platform.

I disagree. Fear of disorder and xenophobia are two foundational conservative ideas. Fox shapes opinions around those ideas, rather than just jumping in to cheerlead for Republicans (which they also do).

Not disagreeing, but I do think they push the base conservative ideas very consistently. How much of America's fear of crime and immigration is due to Fox News? It's not 0.

It's really something to watch bizarre misinformation propagate through the right wing ecosystem. Did anyone object to use of ibuprofen and acetaminophen before ~August? Now it's just received knowledge that these things are bad.
