If the focus of the late game was on Rinoa's fears and doubts about being a sorceress, Ultimecia can have a real personal meaning that is lacking and leads to ideas like U=R. A remake could lean into that push similarities, and then end on Rinoa beating Ultimecia with the power of empathy.
