On June 4, a group of #Przewalskishorses that arrived in Kazakhstan last year was released into the Kazakh steppe.
They safely endured their first winter with temperatures down to -30 °C. Two mares — Umbra and Wespe— were fitted with GPS collars to monitor the group’s movements after release.

... on the perception of #wolves based on a large questionnaire survey (1068 respondents from across the huge country). Neutral or positive views prevailed - with some nuances: Negative attitudes were common among older, male, rural residents, hunters and livestock owners.

A pair of Asiatic wildcats was spotted in the south of Kostanay region on January 12th, signaling an earlier mating season. Over 20 years, their range has expanded north into the steppe, likely due to climate change, though the exact reasons remain unclear.
