In my continuing Bird Nerd adventures, I present: the best photo I've managed thus far of a Belted Kingfisher! I swear that cackle haunts me: I hear them always, I see them only for an instant. Luckily the fishing was pretty good for this one this morning, so I had more chances than usual.

Minerva, my tortoiseshell cat, peers from where she is curled up on the bed, comfortably trapping one of my legs under the blanket. Tilly the Jack Russell Terrier is snuggled up against same leg.

Important update: I've made one for my teeny tiny child as well! Now that they have a Daddy-Daughter Set of crocheted sweaters, it's time for me to make one for me

I started learning to crochet in May. Yesterday, I completed my first ever constructed piece of clothing!

Some funky pumpkin friends 🧡
Two pumpkins with Jack-o-Lantern faces sit on a brightly lit counter top. The right hand one has pretty classic features: triangular eyes, a crescent shaped nose, and a wide goofy mouth with fangs. The left hand one was based on my daughter’s suggestion of: crazy circle eyes, a square nose with something in it (it ended up being kinda heart shaped with square nostrils and a booger) and a smiling mouth with the tongue hanging out.

It's so lovely out this morning the moon is hanging out to enjoy it:

I find mushrooms, molds and fungi fascinating! It's only a hobby level interest, but I try to get photos whenever I find one I think is neat.
Turkey tail mushrooms growing from a fallen log. A small child sits in the leaf litter. On the right are the remains of a Hen of the Woods easily the size of her torso. Unfortunately we stumbled upon this specimen in its decline and it had started to let off a truly horrible smell. What i believe to be a Honey Mushroom growing out from under a rock, surrounded by grass. Some very small bright red mushrooms growing out from a bed of moss. To be honest I have no idea what these are so if anyone has an idea on ID please share.

I think I'm just going to have to crochet Tilly her own blanket. The love of yarn is strong with this one. Every time I leave a project unattended on the bed I come back to this:

I try not to show up to places empty-handed, so here are some pictures I've taken this fall so far:
