Polls and elections are the voice of the continent, bringing fascism, travelling on the back of a resentment of immigration. As for immigration itself, you have one silly group who hates "The Other, People Not Like Them." And an equally silly group who are unable to see the need for a limit.

If reactionary people are a small minority, you can ignore them. If they become so many they can vote form a government then you take their concerns into account or are sidelined.

The 1st world cannot solve the problems of the 3rd world by population transfer. Not only because it is impractical but because it infuriates the unkinder citizens of the 1st world, who have votes. Putin has exploited their anger, both by stirring them up and by sending more migrants.

I have long thought it likely. I don't think there is a pee tape, he was suborned in 1987 bit by nit. A hotel deal for some newspaper ads, but that's the way you end up in any mafia, you do a favour for a favour and then you're a crminal. But once the US is screwed, Putin can unleash further chaos.
