I have very mixed feelings waking up today. Usually on Thursday mornings, I have the pleasure to be in a classroom with approx 50 students over two hours, discussing primary sources and learning new skills for what I termed our "historian's toolbox".

Recently I was nominated and joined the board of the Kingston Historical Society. Just last night- I became the Vice President of the Kingston Historical Society!

I feel like it's still not real, but I am incredibly excited and grateful for this opportunity so early in my heritage career.

I received news that I get to teach a course I proposed on public history/Canadian heritage next year 😭 I am incredibly excited to get to bring my passion for working with the community & heritage and introduce this beautiful field to students.

One of the best parts of being a co-chair for a conference is getting to read all the submissions and just seeing the amazing work graduate students are producing. It truly feels like a honour- and makes me so excited to meet them!!

I taught my last seminars of the semester on Wednesday and as always, I gave a little speech at the end to my students. Being a teaching fellow in the year 2024 is challenging. Trying to balance the workload of dissertation writing, research, and dissemination of said research...
