In fact, there are some times where I have really wanted to take an artists earlier work and say "See this? I want that, but my character" but I haven't because of concerns for their feelings like what you've expressed.

I frequently use the same pose as a ref even for the same character with different artists. And I've commissioned A LOT.

I can give the same pose ref to a dozen different artists, and they all put their own 'touch' on it. The 'touch' is the most important part. I'm not concerned with originality.
