I hope that Congress can deal with these concerns with the sensitivity and understanding that America deserves and leave behind a better internet for all.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your time.

Social media despite its many problems has become a haven for fostering communities, creativity, and belonging for hundreds of millions of Americans.

But singling out a single foreign platform at the behest of a billionaire competitor who stands to benefit tremendously from the TikTok ban is wildly concerning and fundamentally wrong.

These data security, privacy, and safety concerns are not unique to TikTok and I, along with I believe many Americans, would much prefer Congress to take an industry wide regulatory approach in dealing with these concerns.

Especially given that the lobbying effort against TikTok has been driven in large part by Meta, a company that owns not one, not two, but three competing platforms. It certainly gives off the impression that Congress has been bought and paid for by Mark Zuckerberg.

The fact that one foreign platform has been singled out amidst an industry wide problem of data security and privacy concerns frankly comes off as xenophobic.

Communities have been built and creators have built followings that cannot be simply rebuilt on another platform. I am disappointed in the actions taken by Congress and hope that you will do what you can to reverse or at the very least delay the ban.

Dear Representative/Senator,

I am writing to you as one of your constituents. I am very concerned about the looming ban of the TikTok platform. Millions of Americans rely on TikTok not only for a sense of community and belonging but many also rely on the platform for their very livelihood.
