But then this is doubly stupid because the NSC explicitly said it’s not worried about competition with Russia or China, so who gives a shit anyway? That’s not even talking about the fact that China is in the pacific and Russia doesn’t have a lot of amphibs.

Beyond “map bigger good”, wtf is going on? The U.S. can park shit there and ask for more bases without a problem and don’t you want your theoretical allies to help patrol Greenland?
January 17, 2026 at 6:20 PM
I legit need someone to explain to me wtf is the admin thinking about Greenland, because none of this makes sense to me.

Which is sort of why the theory of “maybe some guys knew of the raid and went on a smoke break during it” is gaining some traction with me.
January 9, 2026 at 11:56 PM
Well, yes and no. That’s absolutely true and a conservative estimate would put at least a third of them not operational, however, I specifically mentioned the JH-12 radar because it was operational, since it’s a center piece of Caracas AD, however it just went missing in the weeks prior to the raid.
January 9, 2026 at 11:55 PM
Cool I guess, I’m just giving you evidence of them shooting back.
January 9, 2026 at 11:43 PM
The Venezuelans even got a few Buk missiles in the air, the thing is the missiles actually hitting anything when their radars are getting hyper fucked by SEAD.
January 8, 2026 at 11:32 AM
The funny thing is that a major component of Venezuelan IADS over Caracas has been missing since Christmas basically lol.
January 8, 2026 at 11:31 AM
Tbf there’s some worse stuff bubbling under the surface with guys like Thiel wanting to build some sort of unregulated Mecca for their shit up there.
January 5, 2026 at 4:37 PM
I legit don’t see congress approving the conflict without at least one Brazilian getting domed first.
January 5, 2026 at 2:27 PM
Yes and no. Legally speaking there are very few mechanisms for the Brazilian military to get involved in any conflict that doesn’t involve some pretext of self defense and if the Venezuelans were actually smart and didn’t cross into Brasil proper, that would have really tied Lula’s hand.
January 5, 2026 at 2:19 PM
But yes, the idea of an invasion of Guyana was mostly a fever dream from Maduro that tried to get him a bump on the polls ahead of the election.
January 5, 2026 at 2:03 PM
> Even if the US didn't step in, Brazil would have.

Tbf, i don’t think there was a lot of apetite in Brasil for anything other than posturing and the only real trigger for an intervention would be if Venezuelan forces crossed into Brasil.
January 5, 2026 at 2:02 PM
That’s not going to work out well and even before the war most experts warned that Venezuelan IADS would be at best a road bump against actual U.S. forces.
January 3, 2026 at 8:28 AM
Eh, I wouldn’t put this exclusively on the systems being Russian when the Venezuelans were barely doing basic maintenance on their stuff. The force they have on paper just isn’t there. + Even if the force they had on paper was real and properly deployed, they’re going against the USAF.
January 3, 2026 at 8:27 AM
Cool, but like, with what? They’re basically Iraq in 03’, but worse.
January 3, 2026 at 8:25 AM
It’s quieter for sure, but not quiet. There’s still shit going off and some gunfire.
January 3, 2026 at 8:13 AM
+ They’re only cleaning the massive fuckup of successfully defending the harder part of town, the part over the river, but somehow allowing the russians for months to build a presence over the river, then facepalming and having no real plan to defend the city.
December 24, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Also, Kupyansk only really worked because the Russians there are tired and spent as the Ukrainians, so a relatively small force of fresh Ukrainian troops could make a difference. That’s not what Skala is doing in Pokrovsk, it’s head butting against a wall.
December 24, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Not really when you’re essentially making a tiered force and that’s fueling resentment and driving AWOL numbers up the wall since you’re either getting sent into a bullshit assault or you’re getting permanent shell shock after holding the same position for 6 months.
December 24, 2025 at 1:58 AM
Syrsky did cook up Kursk, but that was a real shit show and barely reached most of its objectives and got bogged down fast.
December 24, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Not really. He did steal a lot of the credit for Kharkiv in 22’, when everything indicates the idea for the push came from local commanders who pushed it up the ladder to the General Staff who made the bulk of planning w/ the U.S. heavily involved too.
December 24, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Eh, it wasn’t really their assault guys. The bulk of the push came from Khartia and the 92nd. Yes, 475th was involved as a major part of it, but it’s not nearly as a prestigious unit (in terms of gear too) as the 425th.
