On August 20, 1968, Josef Koudelka was a 30-year-old theater photographer in what was then Czechoslovakia. On the night of August 21, he became a documentary photographer, capturing the Soviet invasion of Prague.

Koudelka’s entire body of work has been deeply intertwined with history.
