I was letting a spiteful, entirely unnecessary third drop of poison fall into my husband’s chalice, when a sound at the other end of the hall drew my attention. I should have corked the vial and concealed it in my fist. Instead, I froze. Unable to think, unable to breathe, I stared at the iron-studded doors of the hall ike a doe staring down the shaft of an arrow, into the eye of a hunter. I watched, paralyzed with fear, as the doors shuddered open.

I finished this on audiobook recently and loved it! I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and Ava Reid’s writing (so atmospheric, and perfect for dark academia + gothic fantasy). ✨🌊

I recently finished revising my dark, vampiric romantasy, What Wakes at Dusk!

This book is about rival heirs vying for the throne of a nightbound kingdom—think The Serpent & the Wings of Night meets Castlevania. It features two major romances. 🖤⚔️

I’ve always been surprised that I don’t hear more people talking about The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender.

It’s a haunting, heartbreaking multigenerational family saga with gorgeous writing.
