As I’m reading about Elon Musk and the US Government’s attempt to shut down USAID, I was reminded of this picture I shot while on assignment in Haiti. It’s a young boy standing beside his shelter made from repurposed USAID sacks. Musk deems this an unnecessary expense.

In diplomatic circles this would probably be categorised as a ‘robust difference of opinion’!

I just came across this picture in a box of old papers. It’s from 1952. It’s my father in the centre. This was while he served in Korea. He was such a young man here.

He never spoke about his experiences there, but he looks really happy here and that makes me glad.

I miss him tremendously.

Like many, I’ve held a romantic fascination for Coney Island since I first watched ‘The Warriors’ as a kid.

I’ve punished my body many times on this thing too!
