An Education in Malice by ST Gibson is a retelling of Carmilla. Is this vampire-filled novel worth your time? My thoughts inside.

I just turned 42. One of the things I’ve come to appreciate about ereaders is that I can make the font bigger. 😂

I’m sure this is obvious to most of you, but here’s something I’ve been learning lately: if I’m going to write a book review, it helps to write it as soon after finishing the book as possible. 🤣

What books would you recommend to someone who wants an alternative to Harry Potter? Looking to support authors who aren’t problematic. (I have some ideas in mind, but would like additional suggestions)

Friends, I think I might be doing something wrong. I signed up for KU with the intent of reading some self published books, but I’ve been struggling to find things that interest me. It seems like it makes more sense for me to buy individual books a la carte when I find things that interest me.

It’s women in translation month, and I really want to read an Asian author who ISN’T from China, Japan, or Korea. Got any suggestions?

Bookish friends, I’m considering buying a Boox ereader. The problem is that I’m not sure which to get. If you have one, which do you have? Do you recommend it? Thanks!

Review: Angelica: For Love and Country in a Time of Revolution by Molly Beer

I was motivated to read Molly Beer’s biography because it is described as “A women-centric view of revolution through the life of Angelica Schuyler Church, Alexander Hamilton’s influential sister-in-law.” Let’s discuss.

I feel like for every one post I see claiming that audiobooks don’t count as reading, I see 99 arguing that they do. I’m not sure if that means I managed to hack the algorithm in a good way or if the people who think audiobooks don’t count are the minority.

I’m looking forward to discovering some new books in translation in August. ♥️

I really want to read more novels by Asian authors, but I feel like most of the books I come across are by Chinese, Japanese, or Korean authors. Which, I mean, that’s great. However, I’d love to read some Asian authors from other countries. Have you read anything you’ve liked?

Bottling His Ghosts by SH Cooper is a novella that explores the ghosts we carry with us and how societal expectations determine how we’re “allowed” to grieve.

ISO: novels featuring Deaf or HoH characters. Self published and traditionally published books would be great. Bonus points if the author is also Deaf/HoH. I’m open to considering most genres. As a caveat, I would prefer physical books, audiobooks, or ebooks that I can load onto my kobo. Thanks!
