I‘ve been dying on the hill for years that recipe search was the canary in the coal mine for everything that’s gone to shit about search ever since. But instead of taking it seriously as a structural failure, the discourse got stuck on “women be talking too much on their silly blogs.”

“I evaluated the source, consulted other reputable sources and revised a previous assumption“ is the best thing my librarian heart has read on the internet today! More of this and we may survive the robot wars after all 🤞

Yeah this is actually a pretty decent statement of accountability even if Google made them add it

Ok can we please wait for a better source on this than “Malwarebytes citing a random X post.” We’re never going to survive the robot wars with this level of information literacy.

This also only cites the random X post.

I’m not saying I trust Google wouldn‘t do this, and it’s still a good idea to opt out if you can bear the diminished user experience, but I’m still not seeing a source that’s not “one non-evidence based post from someone random on X/Bluesky.”

This book is stunningly beautiful! I love how you captured every dog’s features so succinctly, and that you can tell what time of day it is on every page! Brilliant understanding of dogs and winter light 🥹

It’s so tired to be like “I knew it all along” but I DID know it, thanks to this well-honed instinct.

I have done that, “both these things have healing powers, seems like a good idea“

I hope you’re hearing the feedback about this and following up on the work librarians have been doing around this for ages! A lot is already known and documented. I’m a subscriber and fan of 404‘s work in general but it’s a bit disappointing to see this as an area of focus.
