I’m having a hard time reading Dream Hotel—its dystopian future doesn’t feel far enough away.

Recently went hiking and the new, bright green growth on the evergreen trees brought me such joy. It was hope and resilience.

Being a Giants fan in the Midwest is rough for night games. This one was worth it!

The Guardian concluded that "US neighborhoods with more people of color suffer worse air pollution." For example, Chicago's South and West sides had the 3rd highest levels of fine particulate pollution in the nation.

Figma has beta launched its AI features with the disclaimer that "By using AI features, you consent to Figma's AI subprocessors." Their site currently lists 19 subprocessors—some may be competitors to the company you are using Figma for. They are stealing work and sharing it with competitors. Cool.

I'm so tired of software companies, that I pay to use their products, trying to steal my work to train their AI systems. Add Figma to this list. If you are a Figma account administrator, here are instructions to opt out of their theft, er, I mean, "content training."

I love the fun that NC State is having in this run.
I love that both the men and women's teams made the final four on the same day! They both scored 76 points in their wins too!! Hillsborough is going to be rocking tonight.

Day 1477
It’s been a good run for my household, but COVID finally broke through. I think our youngest member’s immune system was weakened from the GI bug we both had last week and the plague got him. Hopefully we can keep it contained.

Day 1462 - Four years

Zoom in on any metro area and the ShotSpotter dots are like a racial demographic map. Here’s the map for the San Francisco Bay Area. I think the designers made the map white for a reason.

Every child, regardless of zip code, deserves a healthy school with clean air. Healthy schools bring in fresh air, filter the air, and monitor the air quality inside classrooms. Illinois can do all of these by passing HB3713 - The Clean Air for Healthy Equitable Schools Act.

It is Halloween. It is snowing. Out of my 10 Halloweens in the Midwest, this is the third with snow and I still find it objectionable.
